On Versions

No Age is a version of Pavement in that they bury pop under noise. One falls in love trying to dig it out. Weezer can be described as a bad version of Pavement and Nirvana was Pavement's logical conclusion.

Mountain Goats are a version of Modest Mouse. John Darnielle reimagines the world geographically like Borges map so large it covers the territory it describes. Both bands utilize techniques of distance, sound and space in their music. Darnielle's version is more literary and Issac Brock's version is more psychic.

Aaron Sorkin is a version of Michael Bay in that they make art about art. Where Bay makes movies about movies, Sorkin makes television about television.
